Strategic Commodity - Macro 2-21-23

DoubleLine_Commodity-Thumb

DoubleLine Portfolio Manager Samuel Lau looks at the state of commodities in this webcast and the dynamics that could make the asset class a positive addition to one’s portfolio going forward. Mr. Lau breaks his review into four categories: adding diversification to a portfolio of traditional financial assets (2:31), commodities’ value as an inflation hedge (5:53), the drivers of supply and demand that could lead to positive performance in 2023 for commodities (10:14) and how the continued shift toward clean energy will benefit the asset class in the longer term (23:45). For those still on the sidelines when it comes to commodities, Mr. Lau notes that the recent drop in performance due to macro headwinds, including prospects of a slowing economy, could provide an attractive entry point for investors. This webcast was recorded Feb. 21, 2023.
