DoubleLine Portfolio Manager Jeff Mayberry explores the current state of equity markets amid ongoing global uncertainty, particularly surrounding U.S. trade policy and tariffs. With global trade tensions, Federal Reserve policy questions and elevated valuations, Mr. Mayberry explains why traditional market-cap strategies might be riskier than they appear. He highlights how sector concentration – especially in tech – has distorted the S&P 500 Index, and why equal-weight and sector-rotation strategies might offer better balance and long-term potential.
Mr. Mayberry dives into DoubleLine’s Shiller CAPE® U.S. Equities ETF (CAPE) and Shiller Enhanced CAPE® Mutual Fund (DSEEX), which use valuation and momentum filters to rotate into undervalued sectors while managing risk with a conservative fixed-income sleeve. He also introduces the Fortune 500 Equal Weight ETF (DFVE), offering exposure to high-revenue companies with broader diversification than the S&P 500. These strategies aim to reduce reliance on megacap tech stocks and provide more stable returns in uncertain times.

This ETF is different from traditional ETFs – traditional ETFs tell the public what assets they hold each day; this ETF will not.
This may create additional risks. For example, since this ETF provides less information to traders, they may charge you more money to trade this ETF’s shares. Also, the price you pay to buy or sell ETF shares on an exchange may not match the value of the ETF’s portfolio. These risks may be even greater in bad or uncertain markets. See the ETF prospectus for more information.
