On Bloomberg Television’s “Open Interest,” DoubleLine Deputy Chief Investment Officer Jeffrey Sherman on Dec. 13, 2024, discusses (0:02) the DoubleLine Fortune 500 Equal Weight ETF (DFVE), equal-weight versus market-cap investing and the heavy exposure of the S&P 500 to a small number of mega-cap tech stocks at historically high price-to-earnings ratios. Mr. Sherman also details the construction (2:25) of the Barclays Fortune 500 Equal Weighted Total Return Index, which DFVE implements. Importantly, he notes that the index selects securities of approximately 460 companies on an objective, rules-based methodology based on revenue. This distinguishes its components from the S&P 500, whose components are selected by a committee. Founded 15 years ago, DoubleLine, Mr. Sherman notes (4:23), has a 10-year history managing equity strategies.
