ETF Guide Takes a First Look at DCMT

In an interview with ETF Guide, DoubleLine Capital Portfolio Manager Samuel Lau discusses the  DoubleLine Commodity Strategy ETF (ticker symbol DFVE). The DoubleLine Commodity Strategy ETF, Mr. Lau notes, benefits from more than a decade of experience at DoubleLine in active investment in commodities. The fund invests in all 24 constituents of the Bloomberg Commodity Index, which DCMT seeks to outperform. Those commodities include energy products, industrial metals, precious metals, agricultural products and livestock. Mr. Lau’s discussion of DCMT also covers: Sources of potential alpha, including the ETF’s creation of commodity exposures consistent with the Barclays Backwardation Tilt Multi-Strategy Index (the “Barclays Index”), overweighting the 10 commodities in the Bloomberg Commodity Index with the highest positive roll yield and contract selection based on carry, seasonality and momentum. Outperformance of the Barclays Index on an absolute basis and risk-adjusted basis vs. Bloomberg Commodity Index.
